I'd like to find a comprehensive nutrition chart for lots of your basic foods at home. Something with the basics - protein, carbs, fat - but also more detailed with vitamins, calcium, iron, etc. Also something that explains what items are good for what (i.e. carbs are good for short term energy but breakdown into fat eventually) would be extremely helpful too!

I spoke with my mom today. She's in her late 60s and has had high blood pressure for years. She still works regularly but is staying home this week to see if her blood pressure can be moderated after spiking to 236/145. (I'm not 100% sure about the second number–it may be a little off, but I am absolutely positive about the 236.)
She was given a new medication, as well as some anxiety medicine. She's always had high blood pressure, but the 236 even scared her.
So, how close is someone to a heart attack (or some other major body malfunction) when blood pressure goes that high? I remember my mom's mom had high blood pressure and died from a massive heart attack at age 70 about twenty years ago.
Hi. Someone suggested that I should eat high potassium foods to get rid of cramps while running. I was just wondering what some high potassium foods were?
Thanks heaps!
So, seriously nothing with even just some potassium out there that ain't bananas?
I ask because I read that certain foods are good sources of a particular nutrient, yet sometimes that's not reflected in the label. I realize that some foods lose nutrients through processing, but do companies only list certain "key" nutrients?
I Race mountain bikes and for the last year I have battled very very bad Leg cramps in most of my races over 90 minutes and I have tried more hydration, more electrolytes via Hammer Endurolytes and high sodium sports drinks, eating bananas for the potassium, maintaining a higher cadence. I race in 15 mile races and 12 and 24 hour solo Mountain Bike racing.
Eating a healthy, balanced diet for your nutritional needs is not difficult, but it is trickier than you think.
Successful potassium diets are dependent on a number of other factors about your daily diet, state of health, medical need and well being.
Sodium, magnesium, maintaining a healthy diet, water intake, age, gender and current health condition are all critical factors.
