What causes a potassium level to drop?

My mom has been undergoing chemo since 08/2007. She is currently on a potassium supplement but yesterday when they did her bloodwork her potassium level had dropped and she had to have some administered via IV. Last week they did her bloodwork and it was fine. Any thoughts on why it would drop so suddenly?

It gives the pKa of tert-butyl alcohol (18) and the pKa of water (15.7).

I think the answer is no because you would end up with tert-butyl alcohol due to the fact that the conjugate base of potassium tert-butoxide is stronger than the water, but I am unsure. Please help!

I accidently took 3 magnesium supplements in an hour and a half.

Can anyone suggest potassium-rich foods?
