why is potassium iodide a good catalyst of hydrogen peroxide?
i did the experiment "elephants toothpaste" or "foam column" with potassium iodide as the catalyst.
why did it work as a catalyst?
any info would be useful!
thanks

I have heard that they have more potassium then bananas. Is this true?
My 62 Year old grandma is on a low protein, sodium, and potassium diet. What kind of foods can she eat?
Thanks in advanced
I seem to be magnesium deficient, like most everyone in the western world. And I can really see a different in my anxiety with the Magnesium. But the problem is, I feel more relaxed, yes. BUT, my anxiety CAUSES stomachaches; one that’s indescribable and not gastrointestinal in nature. But the magnesium definitely just gives me a regular stomachache most of the time, and nausea like half of the time. And sometimes it gives me heartburn.
I know that Magnesium can make you have the sh*ts. It doesn’t really do this to me. It’s not in that vicinity. It definitely above my intestine.
Does anyone know how to reduce or get rid of this side-effect? I really need to take this Magnesium! It’s made so much difference…. But these stomach troubles are killer!
Btw: I’ve taken it with eating AND without eating. With lots of water, and with not as much water. It’s all the same.
I also take a lot of Tums to try to kill some of the problem but it doesn’t seem to do that much. It kills my heartburn mostly.
Brand of Magnesium: Solaray: Magnesium Asporotate ™. 200 milligrams of Magnesium each capsule.
Each 200ml of an electrolyte solution designed for treating dehydration contains 0.47g of sodium chloride (NaCl), 0.30g of potassium chloride (KCl) and 3.56g of glucose (C6H12O6).
A)Calculate the concentration of potassium ions in the solution in mol L-1
B) Calculate the concentration of chloride ions in the solution in mol l-1
I have high blood pressure and cholesterol in which I take medication for both. I experience constant pain all over my entire body espesially in my back and neck and it is all the time and have had this for the last few months the worse. I was not injured so I am wondering if those problems could cause pain or if it could be something else.
I eat veggies and bananas and walk. I may have a sweet every now and then but always eat my three square meals.I drink two large cups of coffee in the morning and the rest of the day and night it is water. I am puzzled why my potassium would be low during a blood test for pre op.
I recently had a very difficult series of episodes in my life (lasting about 1.5 years). I gained a lot of weight and found that I now have high systolic BP. It’s been a year since I first found this out. I’ve lost the weight, eat much more sensibly (limit my saturated fat and salt intakes), and do aerobic excercise every day. But I find that my systolic BP hasn’t been going down. I am fairly young (30’s) and am very concerned about this. What else can I do to bring my systolic BP back down to ‘normal’? And, provided that I stick to a healthy diet and regular cardio excercise, how long do you think it should take before my BP starts to go down (if at all)? I understand that if it goes down, that this will take some time and I have patience- but I just want to see signs of progress to know that I am doing the right thing. Any suggestions for what I should do?
Hi ! I recently had high level pottasium (because of a supplement I was taking) I just wanted to know, Does salt increase potassium ? I’m confused about High pottasium = low blood preasure & High blood preasure because of too much salt. Should I avoid foods with salt & pottasium from now on ?
