Any way to reduce nausea and stomachache from magnesium supplement (Mag. Aspartate, Citrate, Orotate)?
I seem to be magnesium deficient, like most everyone in the western world. And I can really see a different in my anxiety with the Magnesium. But the problem is, I feel more relaxed, yes. BUT, my anxiety CAUSES stomachaches; one that’s indescribable and not gastrointestinal in nature. But the magnesium definitely just gives me a regular stomachache most of the time, and nausea like half of the time. And sometimes it gives me heartburn.
I know that Magnesium can make you have the sh*ts. It doesn’t really do this to me. It’s not in that vicinity. It definitely above my intestine.
Does anyone know how to reduce or get rid of this side-effect? I really need to take this Magnesium! It’s made so much difference…. But these stomach troubles are killer!
Btw: I’ve taken it with eating AND without eating. With lots of water, and with not as much water. It’s all the same.
I also take a lot of Tums to try to kill some of the problem but it doesn’t seem to do that much. It kills my heartburn mostly.
Brand of Magnesium: Solaray: Magnesium Asporotate ™. 200 milligrams of Magnesium each capsule.

magnesium supplements are supposed to relieve an acid tummy, help to resolve tension and stress, aid in digestion by increasing the production of hydrochloric acid in the tummy, help to resolve muscle twitching and muscular cramping and tics ……… they’ll also help to lower high blood pressure …… the heartburn concerns me …… that indicates that there is something in the magnesium supplement to which you are sensitive or intolerant and thus aren’t able to digest ……. hence the acid reflux ….. read the label mate and see if there’s any lactose in it ……. perhaps you are lactose intolerant and there is either lactose or a milk and dairy derivative contained in it……. with side affects like nausea, stomach aches, acid reflux …… your body is telling you it can’t tolerate it ……. i would be ditching the supplement you are taking and simply eating more leafy and green vegies, organic raw nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts or sunflower seeds, wholegrains and cereals like brown rice or quinoa (pronounced keen-wah) ……. wholegrain and cereals will help fuel your body for the energy it needs and give your brain the fuel it needs to function smoothly thus automatically relieving stress and tension…….. so ditch the white bread if you eat any ….. without enough carbs your brain has to work just that little bit harder and your energy levels will flag…. all those foods are naturally rich in magnesium and will go a long way towards resolving your stress and anxiety.
all Tums will do is neutralise ALL the acids in your stomach …… this is not a good thing as you need digestive juices such as hydrochloric acid to digest your food ……. hence, after taking the tums and seemingly resolving the stomach ache, the minute you eat again you’re back at square one with another stomach ache…….. so you end up ever reliant on a stomach relaxant that operates in a vicious cycle.
peace baby
