My step dad’s medication requires that he not consume too much potassium, but he refuses to give up salt. Is sea salt low in potassium? Is there another kind of salt that would be better? We got some Morton’s fine sea salt, but it says nothing about potassium and neither does their website.

About 2 yrs ago I started with high blood pressure, then earlier this year I developed low sodium levels and now my potassium level is rising. I am tired all the time, and when I do the least amount of exercise I suffer joint and mussel pain for weeks after. What could this be a early sign of?
I do have FM (fibromyalgia) and take neurontin. I also suffer from back problems and am in morphine for that.

My potassium and protein levels are extremely low according to my doctors. They said that I need to get them up ASAP. I am also a bit overweight. Are there any foods that I could eat to get these stats up?

I recently went to the doc for unexplained weight loss (not a lot, but I haven’t been exercising and have been eating more than usual). She took blood and the only thing that came back was a low potassium level. I eat a banana a day, quite a lot of tomato-based food, cereal, milk, etc. and I never use diuretics… not on any medications… Why would I have low potassium? I’m also prone to UTIs, but don’t have one now. Any insight appreciated!

my boyfriend works in construction and within a month he’s went to the emergency room twice because of heat exhaustion. The first time the doctor said be sure to drink plenty of gatorade and foods high in potassium and thats exactly what he’s been doing more than ever and just yesterday he had to go back to the emergency room and again his potassium was low, lower than the first time. So why do you think he’s the only one out of the rest of the crew that get so bad off? i know heat exhaustion is the main reason his body cramps up severly to where he can’t walk or talk and his vision just about goes completely out but could there be something below the surface that makes him and no one else so prone to all this happening?

I eat veggies and bananas and walk. I may have a sweet every now and then but always eat my three square meals.I drink two large cups of coffee in the morning and the rest of the day and night it is water. I am puzzled why my potassium would be low during a blood test for pre op.
