I just purchased Peter Gillham’s "Natural Calm" dietary supplement to take during my pregnancy. I’m 6 weeks pregnant. I read on their website that it’s safe to take during pregnancy, however I’ve read other comments that said check with your doctor as this product ‘could’ cause loose bowls and in tern, cause premature labor. I just took the recommended dosage and now I’m a little concerned that this may in fact be harmful?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I know that some meds can interfere with birth control, and I don’t take anything else except for calcium w/ magnesium supplements every day. I told the doctor I take them when I got my bc, and she didn’t say anything..so I’m assuming it’s fine. I just want to double check.

Is it safe and used simply as a preservative or filler or does the ingestion of magnesium stearate in supplements suppress the immune system and eventually lead to collapse of T cell membrane function and cell death ??
There too much conflicting information out there so it would be nice to get informed opinions from those who have extensive knowledge on this subject please.
Thanks for any help.

I’ve just recently been taking Multi-Vitamins, Fish Oils, CoQ10, Folic Acid, & Vitamin D. I’m not very familiar w/ most of them & just recently heard Calcium would be another great add on to my daily supplements; however I’m reading that Calcium makes you constipated & Magnesium helps the Calcium break down. I’m also reading that Vitamin D does the same, at least that’s what I think it’s saying. I just don’t want to spend the money on Magnesium when I don’t have to, I’m already spending a bob or two on the other stuff!. I need advice from someone who’s very familiar w/ nutritional supplements.
Thanks,
Jimmy

I went into pre term labor at 32 weeks and they stopped it with magnesium sulfate. Horrible stuff! I am now 37 weeks and having horrible braxton hicks and frequent bowel movements. It’s like labor wants to start but won’t. I am taking magnesium 250mg. 2 pills once or twice a day for foot cramps. My OB told me to months ago. I was about to cut my feet off they hurt so bad. It is the only thing that helps. Could this dose delay labor? I am afraid to take it, but sometimes I have to!
