I have heard several women say they took a cal-mag (calcium magnesium) supplement along with their prenatals during pregnancy. How do you know if you need an additional calcium supplement aside from what is in your prenatal? Thanks!

what’s the difference?
I have this stuff at my house called "FreezGard 100% Magnesium Chloride Ice Melt" (http://icemeltchicago.com/chicago-ice-melt-products.php 3rd one from the bottom) at my house. It says it’s 100% Magnesium Chloride.
I noticed Magnesium Chloride is also sold in supplement form (http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=magnesium+chloride+supplement&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=rpkfS967Ds2elAf47NToBQ&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CB8QrQQwAg).
I was wondering if its safe to take the deicer in small dosages to replace the dietary supplement. it sounds wrong, but just curious.
Here’s some more facts. http://www.drugs.com/mtm/magnesium-chloride.html

Off on and on I have had a problem with waking in the middle of the night with very painful leg cramps. It has been suggested to me that I take a calcium magnesium suppliment. I have tried that idea on two different ocations, and both times it really messed up my stomach very badly, so I cannot use that option.
Early this morning, i woke with a leg cramp again. Recently, I had begun taking this multivitamin suppliment in the form of a powdered drink mix, and I wonder if that could have caused the problem. I have also heard that leg cramps can be caused by not drinking enough, and i’m afraid i am guilty of that.
I would really appreciate any advice. Thank you
