Heart palpitations! help?

After being to the ER a few times because of a severe tension headache, i started getting these heart palpitations these few days. It usually starts happening at night when im about to sleep. My heart palpitates and its irregular, it goes fast and then slow, strong and then weak, etc.

The times i went into ER for my headache, they said my potassium was low and i was really dehydrated. I have started taking more potassium and drinking more water. Could low potassium be causing these heart palpitations? How much potassium should i be taking in daily? (I eat about 1-2 bananas and 2-4 glasses of orange juice now)

I did go to the ER for these palpitations. Did ekg, xray, and they monitored me for a while. They said nothing serious was going on, probably anxiety… i dont think i have anxiety. Im just trying to sleep and not thinking of anything. Can tension headaches cause these palpitations? Maybe the headache is making my body tense up?

I get blood drawn when I go to the doctor. Will the use of diet pills be detected in the results. They aren’t testing for drugs just like a regular test of electrolytes and potassium stuff like that.

Annoyed to no end sick wise?

Awhile back I went to the ER they found Low Potassium, month later I freaked out because my heartrate went to 143ish, doctor told me not to worry, between those 2 ER stays they done 2 X-rays, 1 MRI of my chest, 3 blood works, and 2 EKGs, second time they said my potassium level was normal, but each time they found nothing wrong with my heart. Yet I’ve still been feeling awful, my chest has been sore for almost a month and a half, tender all over it, I’ve had really bad trouble eatting without feeling sick, lower back pain on my left side. wierd headaches that come and go on the top of my head and left side, and my right eye twitches alot lately >< I’m going to the Clinic tommorrow and try again, Could this all be stress and anxiety? Or something else I’m not asking for an online diagonsis since I’m going anyway, I’m just trying to see if anyone out there has been through similar and what it turned out to be? thanks

How can I lose weight while on a renal diet?

I have a kidney disease and was recently put on a renal diet. It consists of very little meat and lots of starchy foods. I have gained a lot of weight because of this. There’s quiet a few fruits that I cannot have because their high in potassium. I’ve tried eating a lot of salad, but I can only take so much. If there is anyone who is going through the same thing, please help.

What is a good guide for a dialysis diet?

A friend of mine is on dialysis. They have put her on a special diet, but alot of the paperwork contradicts itself. How much sodium, potassium, etc. should be allowed? What foods should be oof-limits and what foods can she eat w/o restrictions, if any. Are there any good recipes that still taste great? What about foods that are already made? How can she dine out and not hit over her limit? She’s not diabetic so she doesn’t have the same restrictions. We already know that she can only have 5 cups of fluids per day, but what else? Please be as specific as possible!

I need to lose weight and I have switched to Diet Coke with Splenda (I cannot tolerate aspartame - that’s the ingredient in regular Diet Coke).

Anyway, there is also one ingredient besides Splenda that is called acesulfame potassium. Does anybody know whether it is bad for your health or any chemical information about it?
Links would be appreciated.

Im 27, male, medium build, i take opiate medication, and have never in my life had heart problems, ever. I started taking my meds about 9 months ago, and before i took them i never had any problems. about 3 months ago i started experiencing heart palpitations out of the blue. i was not doing any physical stress, or anything. almost feels like my eyes are kinda teary sometimes. well, i didnt know what to do, i didnt get any chest pains or anything, so i took some advice and took magnesium and potassium. they stopped. well after about 3 weeks of taking potassium, the palps went away. well here we are about 9 months later, and out of the blue, the palps started up again. i took a potassium pill and they went away for the night. the next morning, they came back. I had a infected tooth this time and was gonna start taking penicillin that day (penicillin VK has potassium in it) and the penicillin made them go away, i figured because of the potassium that was in the penicillin. Ive cut back alot on the salts ( i dont even use it anymore on food) and i dont eat too much junk. I thought it might be because of the tooth infection, but im not too sure, i did notice when i have a bad tooth ache, i get heart palpitations from the pain. Now, ive never had them before, i dont know what it could be, it doesnt seem to be anything serious at least it doesnt feel like it. I get constipation from the meds, but it doesnt get too bad, and i dont get dizzy or light headed. when i lay down it doesnt get worse or change really. Im thinking it might be low sodium, or a potassium deficency. but how long would i have to take potassium to get my levels back up? ive never had this problem till i took the medication, but it doesnt make sense, because opiates arent supposed to cause palpations. anyone with a similiar story? ive looked all over to see what the cause was and im desperate for some answer. Id really appreciate someone to take the time and really help me. Everytime ive told the doctor about it, he brushes it off and says everything is fine with my heart. I do have to say that i do have bad anxiety and panic attacks, but most of the time when it happens my anxiety is not even around. is it an adrenaline thing? any ideas? any suggestions as far as something i could do to pin point the reason? its getting annoying, and my doctor is a old quack, lol he is oldschool, im really healthy and have no other symptoms besides my hearing is some what off and i have a few bad teeth, other then that im as healthy as an ox. please help! thank you i appreciate it so much.!
