Food rich in potassium?

Tell me food rich in potassium?

I’ve been getting these pretty frequently lately, I’ve had 3 in th epast four days. one was in the middle of the night in my leg, and the other two have been in my foot,(on the same side) and my toes like get stuck in weird positions . But they hurt REALLY badly and take a few minutes to go away. I try stretching my foot/calf, but it doesn’t help.I just have to wait it out. I have heard alot about eating bananas, or potassium rich foods, but I eat bananas every morning, and I eat lots of fruits. is there anything else that could be causing these cramps??

Like in the issue i got a week ago (April 2010) there is like a fruit smoothie that eliminates frizz… It says… Potassium-rich bananas and cantaloupes help to soften rough strands, whiles a few drops of olive oil keep hair smooth. Then the recipe is: 1) Mix 1 banana, 1/4 cantaloupe (without the rind), 2 tbsp. yogurt, and 1 tbsp. olive oil together in a blender. 2) Apply mixture to damp unwashed hair, and comb through from roots to tips. 3) Allow it to sink in for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse well. Shampoo and condition you hair, and style as usual. That was the first recipe to de-frizz hair : ) Do you think it would work well? Ok and the second one is suppose to fix split ends, its called Avocado Mask for your hair. It says… To strengthen brittle ends and repair damage, let moisturizing avocado and smoothing honey go to work! and the recipe is: 1) Combine 1 can of coconut milk (it gives hair tons of shine!), 1 mashed avocado, and 1/4 cup honey in a bowl. 2) Slather the mixture on dry hair, focusing on split and damaged ends. Top with a plastic shower cap. 3) Blast your hair with heat from your blow-dryer for 5 minutes, then allow the mask to soak in for an additional 30 minutes. 4) Rinse well, but don’t shampoo. Style as usual. And that’s the end for the second recipe : ) Will these work? Thank you for your time!

prednisone and weight gain?

My girlfriend has been given the steroid prednisone for her Crohn’s disease. She is worried about putting weight on and wants to do everything she can do try and avoid it.

I found out the the main reason for weight gain is a greater appetite leading to more calorie intake and also water retention. The water retention is due to her kidney functioning differently so any salt in her food cannot be processed properly and leads to water retention then weight gain. Also more potassium in thediet helps?

her course started 2 days ago, if she goes onto a low salt diet (fresh fruit, veg and un-processed meat) and ets more potassium rich foods as well as eating her normally healthy amount of food and exercise will this battle the weight gain and reduce the amount of weight sh will put on?

I know there will also be a degree of fat redistribution i.e. "moon face" and this cant be helped but will the above have an effect on things?

Thanks for your help.

What pro-biotic is best with lots of potassium?

I have a weird muscle condition (Hypokalemic Periodic Paralysis)and have been prescribed high doses of potassium bicarbonate. Constipation is an ongoing issue with this disorder (along with weakness in skeletal muscles). Is there a type of intestinal bacterium that could survive a potassium rich environment better than some others? I’m afraid the potassium might just kill off standard pro-biotic supplements.

PS
Please don’t lecture me about the potassium. My muscle condition is rare and MUST be treated with high doses of potassium. This question is about intestinal bacteria.

What is wrong with eating red meat?

Beef for example, is rich in phosphorus which is needed for bone and tooth formation, cell growth, construction of heart muscle, kidney function, the utilization of vitamins and the conversion of food to energy.
Beef is also rich in potassium which is important for healthy nervous system, regular heart rhythm, proper muscle contraction and for the prevention of stroke.
Beef is recommended for persons with anemia and low blood pressure.
And like any other meat beef is a protein which also supplies iron to those who eat it.
Unlike chicken and pigs, cows and goats mainly eat greenery (bush and grass).
Unlike fish cows and goats do not risk being contaminated by chemicals spill in the sea.
So why is beef or any other red meet not to be eaten?
Our liver require saturated fats to produce cholesterol, which is in turn necessary for the proper function of our bodies. Cholesterol is used by the cells to build membranes, and is also used in sex hormones and digestive processes. Oxidation (as a result of poor diet) and low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) -( which is not a cholesterol, but acts as a solvent and transports cholesterol), are two of the leading causes of heart disease. Most, if not all, of "our" cows graze and so are not fed hormones and other impurities as are fresh water fish, dietary chicken and pigs. 80% of our cholesterol is produced by the liver; leaving 20% to be consumed. Hence neither hormones, cholesterol nor saturated fats are good reasons for us "not to eat beef".
And for the environmentalists, Like plants (fruits, vegetables, and other ground provisions), animals were also given to us to be consumed as food. - Gen. 9:3.

Why is this?

Ok, so I’ve gone from 118 pounds to 98 pounds, and I know it sounds like I’m underweight, and I know I am, but my doctor told me to lose the weight because of my heart, and I’m on a potassium rich diet…I’m 5 foot 2 inches…so I’ve lost all this weight, and now I have this bulge on my stomach like I’m pregnant, and I can’t tone it with abdominal exercises…is this because my intestines can’t shrink because I was at 118, and they got big and they can’t get smaller?…or why is this?…and I KNOW I’m not pregnant.

Omega 6 fatty acids?

I am trying to figure out if i get enough omega 6 fatty acids in my diet. I am trying to pick a supplement, i found a fish oil supplement with just omega 3 for 7 bucks, and an omega 3-6-9 supplement for 18. Knowing if i get enough omega 6 can save me alot of money. I eat a lot of whole grain rice, pasta, bread, and cereal. A lot of lettuce and brocolli as well as potassium rich fruits, chicken and beef, some yougurt and cheeses as well as protein shakes when i work out. Do i need a supplement with 6 in it?
