My dog was hospitalized for 4 days on IV fluids, she would not eat and would vomit if she did, when I would visit her she would eat but vomit after I left. Her BUN and creatine were elevated, and WBC, ALT and Potassium. I seen she was so nervous to be away I took her home on friday. She has not vomited once at home and is eating k/d,drinking water, normal urine and stool, she is playful been on walks everyday and running around with her toys and my other dogs. No signs of dehydration, but she is shaking. She is a three year old jack russell and has always shaked but not as much. Could it be a side affect from the antibotics she is taking? Kidney disease is possible but repeat testing next Saturday after one week of meds. Would she have done so well the past three days if she is in kidney failure? waiting on Addisons results also.. I dont know what to think. She was retested this Saturday and her creatinine dropped to 2 from 3.5 BUN little change. The Vet said as long as the Creatinine improved over the last 12hrs he was not as worried, Potassium was normal also but WBC still slightly elevated. Anyone been through this?? I am so upset, I love my baby and will pay or do anything if she has a chance. She was hospitalized for dehydration due possible obstruction from digging in gravel, she has no previous symptoms of kidney disease and blood work last year was normal.
My dog did recieve a injection on thursday for Addisons? could this be why she is feeling better?

An associate of mine of normal weight and blood pressure, got pregnant and developed high blood pressure throughout her pregnancy. The moment she gave birth, the BP went back to normal. The doctor told her she should never get pregnant again. Against his advice, she got pregnant again and the high blood pressure not only came back but it stayed and has been with her since. Still a fairly normal weight, her BP can be normal one day and way the next. Any ideas on what could be causing this? It even has her doctors stumped.

The supplements that I’m familiar with contain 99mg of potassium per tablet, which is 3% of your RDA. Only one single tablet per day is recommended. Potassium is a relatively abundant nutrient in all kind of food and thus is relatively difficult to get too little of it. How can one tablet of 3% RDA make much of a difference?

Also, while I more or less understand that there may not be a specific relationship between quantities of sodium and potassium in a person’s diet as each nutrient should be looked at on its own, a diet low in sodium and "high" in potassium is said to be beneficial for the blood pressure and heart. Do those two nutrients balance each other? Can you counteract a diet that’s too high in sodium by increasing your potassium intake?

Thanks!
I also vaguely remember something about a sodium and/or potassium pump or channel in the wall of certain (maybe all?) cells.

I have taken taken this stuff somtimes with regular magnesium pill, plus at times a multi vitamin. Now before I begain taking this supplement, my heart would go up and down on accasion, and now it seems to be doing so a little more offten.

To my complete shock I found that the amount of Calcium per 3 caplets is 1000 mg and the Magesium is 400 mg.

Can taking too much Calcium and Magesium actually hurt someone with SVT Tachycardia?

Male 24, I have been really really sick for couple of months. I had all these tests before and well and that time Doctors diagnosed me with chem imbalance depression and Anxiety.

I haven’t taken any SSRI yet as I am not convinced I have depression.

My symptoms include a lot of weakness. no energy in legs, arms and legs get heavy.fatigue, my appetite is craving for sweets and fry foods. I hate waking up in morning and sleep all day and I am up all night. I have withdrawn from everything as I feel to ill in general.

I barely go outside and this has been hapening from past 5 months.

I went to another doctor and she has ordered following tests.

Biochemistry- Glucose, TSH, Creatine, Uric Acid, Sodium, Pottasium, Chloride, CK, ALT, Bilirubin, Albumin, Cholestrol, B12, Ferritin, Urinalysis (Chemeical)

CBC
Other Tests - Si Calcium
Vit D
ESR
CRP

FOBT (Fecal Occult Blood Test)

All these Tests came out good lie nothing abnormal.
My Doctor is referring me to psychiatrist.

I mean I seriously think I dying of some mysterious illness and have lost all hope. Seriously I don’t think I have depression or anxiety atall!!

I went to Cardiologist who performed several tests and said my heart is fine.

Will all these tests gave doctor a good indication if I am physically healthy.
Now I think I have some of rare disease like LYME Disease ?/??
If I had Lyme disease would it show something abnormal in above tests ?

ok well you can try the raw food diet.
read this …
:))
What is the Raw Food Diet?
The raw food diet is a diet based on unprocessed and uncooked plant foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, sprouts, seeds, nuts, grains, beans, nuts, dried fruit, and seaweed.

Heating food above 116 degrees F is believed to destroy enzymes in food that can assist in the digestion and absorption of food. Cooking is also thought to diminish the nutritional value and "life force" of food.

Typically, at least 75% of the diet must be living or raw.

What are the Benefits of the Raw Food Diet?
Proponents of the raw food diet believe it has numerous health benefits, including:
Increased energy

Improved skin appearance

Better digestion

Weight loss

Reduced risk of heart disease
The raw food diet contains fewer trans fats and saturated fat than the typical Western diet. It is also low in sodium and high in potassium, magnesium, folate, fiber and health-promoting plant chemicals called phytochemicals.

These properties are associated with a reduced risk of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. For example, a study published in the Journal of Nutrition found that consumption of a raw food diet lowered plasma total cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations.

What are the Guidelines of the Raw Food Diet?
1. What can I eat?

Unprocessed, preferably organic, whole foods such as:
Fresh fruits and vegetables

Nuts

Seeds

Beans

Grains

Legumes

Dried fruit

Seaweed

Unprocessed organic or natural foods

Freshly juiced fruit and vegetables

Purified water

Young coconut milk
At least 75% of food consumed should not be heated over 116 degrees F.

2. What cooking techniques are used?

Specific cooking techniques make foods more digestible and add variety to the diet, including:
Sprouting seeds, grains, and beans

Juicing fruit and vegetables

Soaking nuts and dried fruit

Blending

Dehydrating food
3. What equipment can I use?
A dehydrator, a piece of equipment that blows air through food at a temperature of less than 116 degrees F.

A good-quality juice extractor for juicing fruit and vegetables

A blender, food processor, or chopper to save time

Large glass containers to soak and sprout seeds, grains, and beans

Mason jars for storing sprouts and other food
Side Effects

Some people experience a detoxification reaction when they start the raw food diet, especially if their previous diet was rich in meat, sugar, and caffeine. Mild headaches, nausea, and cravings can occur but usually last for several days.

Precautions
The raw food diet may not be appropriate for certain people, such as:
Children

Pregnant or nursing women

People with anemia

People at risk for osteoporosis - A Washington University study found that people following a raw food diet had lower bone mass. Bone turnover rates, however, were similar to the group that ate a standard American diet.
Considerable time, energy, and commitment is needed to be healthy on the raw food diet. Many of the foods are made from scratch. Some ingredients may be hard to find, such as Rejuvelac (the fermented liquid drained from sprouted grains), sprouted flour, date sugar, young coconut milk, carob powder and Celtic sea salt.

People must be aware that certain nutritional deficiencies can occur on the raw food diet, including:
Calcium

Iron

B12 – The Journal of Nutrition study found that a raw food diet increased levels of homocysteine due to vitamin B-12 deficiency.

Protein

Calories
Critics of the raw food diet say while it’s true that some enzymes are inactivated when food is heated, it doesn’t matter because the body uses its own enzymes for digestion. In addition, cooking makes certain phytochemicals easier to absorb, such as beta-carotene in carrots.

Another critique is that the human body has changed in response to eating cooked foods. Some of these changes are that are jaws and teeth have become smaller, our stomachs have shrunk, and our small intestines have grown longer, lengthening the digestive surface area.

According to other alternative diet theories, such as macrobiotics, Ayurveda, and traditional Chinese medicine, a raw-only diet may not be appropriate for people living in colder climates or for people with certain constitutional types.
i put this up because i wanted to help people that wanted to loose weight!!
