If a child, not a baby but you guys know the best answers.?
Has absolutely uncontrollable pure water diarrhea, like when a baby of a few months does, what do I do. Its like when she was a few months old and what came out was just water. This lasted from about 9a to 9p yesterday but that has stopped. Its was literally like urine coming from her rear. And also spelled as nasty as when she was a baby. Rank, doesn’t cover it. She’s had some vomiting so its really eating which is scaring me.Today the runs or gone and mostly the tummy upset. On top of this she has a wicked head cold the whole family has been fighting. She’s 11 and this hasn’t happened in years. If I ask in the older kids section I;m sure I won’t get as much help as from you mommies dealing with this. Please help me! She did eat a bit tonight and had some water, plus a juice bar. That stayed down. i am just worked about her potassium being low and putting her heart in danger. Maybe that doesn’t happen at 11. The doctor couldn’t see her till tomorrow and my begging didn’t help. We are going even though she’s better. any ideas Mom’s. I am terrified. Thank you all. if you think I should post this else where I will.
Ofcourse I’m not a troll, I’m on here every day. Yhe child is my grand daughter and as I said we have all been in bed (4 of use deathly ill. I just woke her mom and told her I was heading to the ER. I raised 5 kids and have 7 grand kids your guys, I tried to do every thhing you said about your babies and since the runs stopped I hope the worse was over. I’m sorry i;m sort of practice but I would give my life for this very special child of my heart if not my lions. I hope none of you are ever accused of neglected the thing you love most in the world. Its cut my heart out. sorry i bother those who don’t realize you can’t always do things the mother feels are her choice. Thanks for those who helped.
As I said the runs stopped last nite as di d the real vomiting. She has had a Pedilye pop or too, 1 banana, At least a liter of gatoraid, and rice which she eats daily. She even had that last night but I forgot. She tried a slice of toast but isnt a breadeater any way so that was wasted. So do you think since she’s sleeping and the doc will see her at 8am i should let her sleep? I had basically the same yesterday and couldn’t drive with out wrecking I’m sure. my husband, her GP is a brain tumor patient and confinded to bed is another eason I didn’t go themn as I couldn’t find a sitter for him. I am asking a serious question here Mom’s you guys know best. Please tell me what ou think even if its that I am wrong.

Sounds like a stomach virus. As long as she’s drinking and eating a bit, she’s fine. The only thing to watch for is dehydration. There’s a nasty virus going around that all of my students have (6th graders). Starts with a typical cold followed by watery diarrhea, vomiting (each child only threw up two or three times). As long as she’s done pooping and is holding down liquids (keep pushing them), there’s no need for the ER. It is much harder for an 11 year old to become dehydrated than a baby. Plus, you can reason with an 11 year old to drink. Taking her to the ER will not tell you anything but that she has a virus and it’ll go away on its’ own, but to keep her hydrated. If you want to pay someone to tell you that, then go ahead.
Skip the doctor and take her straight to the hospital.
Get her to the ER NOW!!!!
Why wouldnt you take her straight to the hospital, esp if your oh so worried. For the childs sake i hope your a troll.
Give her two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar mixed in a cup of water. Sounds like she’s got some kind of bug. Apple cider vinegar is a mainstay in my house for the exact same thing. My husband however always laughed it off and wouldn’t take it. A few weeks ago though he came down with a bug that was very much like your daughter’s. It was in the middle of the night and we didn’t have anything else. He was desperate enough to try to apple cider vinegar and it worked GREAT! Now he is totally convinced and doesn’t laugh at me anymore. Last year, I got a really bad case of food poisoning from some chili I ate. I had diarrhea so bad and got so weak that I felt I was going to pass out. That time, I took a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar straight and within about 15 minutes, I felt noticeably better. About an hour later, I was feeling 60% better. I took another tablespoon before bed and the next day, I was fine. My kids will even ask me for the vinegar when they have diarrhea because they know it works and it works fast. Give it a try. It won’t hurt her (though it may taste yucky), it’s super cheap and it WORKS!
I would say she has a bout of gastroentiritis and since you said she is getting better I doubt there is anything you can do that you’re not already doing. There really isn’t a cure for it other than letting it run its course. The worst of it usually passes in the first 24 hours.
The really important thing is to make sure she drinks lots of water, not eating food isn’t so bad as long as she is drinking. My doctor says 15ml every 15mins is a good amount and its easier to keep down in small doses.
Try iceblocks/popsicles as sometimes that is nicer and also has some sugar which will help replace all the lost stuff.
Bananas are the best to eat when you have the runs too.
Oh and be careful, gastro is usually highly contagious so make sure everybody is washing their hands over and over and disenfect the toilet too.
Good luck, she’ll be fine just give her a day or so and she’ll be back to normal
Oh the chemist sells Diarrhea relief tablets over the counter that can help too
Keep her hydrated. Gatorade or Powerade are really good when you are sick. My sister is a nurse and that’s what she gives to her kids when they are sick.
give her pedialyte if its only one day shes gonna be fine with out eating and you said she kept down some food tonight… also put her on a BRAT diet for a day or so till she feels better (bannas rice applesauce and dry toast) thats easy to keep down and should make her feel better… good luck
i hope she feels better
Doctors tell me to resort to the BRAT Diet
This means: bananas, rice, apples, toast. This is a diet to recover from such a problem.
