…or is it true that the tannin in tea totally stops your body from absorbing the magnesium?

Not not true…its totally fine. They are both very good for you too.*
Negative…this is not true.
It does however change the Bio-availability of Magnesium….Bio-availability refers to your body’s ability to absorb the active ingredients. I would however recommend taking the products at least 1 hour apart, however, if you cant do this for some reason, they will not interact.
NOTE: Be careful when taking Magnesium, it is both a very very strong laxative as well as a diuretic.
I would recommend separating the two since it appears that tannin does have some effect. It will not completely stop absorption, but you would like just absorb less of the magnesium.
In terms of magnesium supplements the best kind for your body include: magnesium malate, magnesium glycinate , magnesium citrate, and magnesium amino acid chelate. You can take these in either pill form or also as a liquid. Some people like to buy the liquid kind and then take a nice soak. This can make it quicker for your body to absorb than taking a few pills a day.
