Magnesium and potassium deficiency.?
I drink 4-8 coffees every day, and also 1-2 beers - sometimes every day, sometimes 1-2 times a week. I have symptoms of magnesium and potassium deficiency - arrhythmias from time to time, eyelid twitching etc. I checked my blood levels of these minerals and results are ok - everything’s in normal range. But I’ve read somewhere that you could still be deficient in magnesium though your blood results are ok. Is it true?
Any thoughts?

Try this - eat four or five TUMS or calcium soft chews. I keep them at home and at the office. It not only helps with the twitches, it also helps with menstrual cramps and sore muscles.
Then get back to this question and let me know how it worked…
Finaldx — recommending *more* calcium when there’s clearly symptoms of magnesium deficiency is insane! This will cause more calcium to build up, and will lead to kidney stones, among other issues.
Yes, magnesium deficiency is not at all detectable by blood serum tests, as well documented by Dr. Carolyn Dean in her book, "The Magnesium Miracle". Your symptoms, along with the coffee and beer intake, indicate a clear magnesium deficiency. But that’s an easy problem to solve. Take a magnesium supplement. Dr. Dean recommends several, including Jigsaw Magnesium w/SRT, which I like because you can take 500mg at once dose and not get diarrhea because the sustained release technology spreads out the dose over 6 hours. Good stuff.
