I just purchased Peter Gillham’s "Natural Calm" dietary supplement to take during my pregnancy. I’m 6 weeks pregnant. I read on their website that it’s safe to take during pregnancy, however I’ve read other comments that said check with your doctor as this product ‘could’ cause loose bowls and in tern, cause premature labor. I just took the recommended dosage and now I’m a little concerned that this may in fact be harmful?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

I have hypertension and just began Micardis and read in the literature that you should tell your doctor if your are taking potassium supplements. I wonder what the problem might be?

I recently had a blood test before a surgery and my potassium was so low, they weren’t sure if they could do the surgery. I was given four huge potassium pills which got my potassium level up enough to do the surgery. I did some research on potassium and what affects low potassium can have on a person and my finding astounded me. What I found (on good reliable medical websites) was that if you have low potassium levels, you can have a glucose intolerance in the blood, meaning it can cause high blood sugar levels. I have been struggling with high blood sugar levels (in the 200’s) for the past four years (since 2006). I went back through my medical history and four years ago, I was given a diuretic to help me prevent kidney stones. My research also found that diuretics cause low potassium because the potassium in your body is flushed out through pee. Now with that said, is it possible that my high blood sugar was caused by me using a diuretic which lowered my potassium to scary levels?

I just need some answers because I have never had any signs of diabetes except for the higher blood sugar and if potassium being low was the cause, maybe I don’t have diabetes after all. Maybe by increasing my intake of potassium rich foods will allow me to control my sugar levels. What do you think?

Dehydration?

o Why is water essential to health maintenance?
o What are the functions of water in the body?
o What happens to the body when it does not get the water it needs?
o Compare and contrast how different electrolytes—sodium, potassium, and chloride—
function in the body.
o What effects can alcohol and caffeine have on hydration levels in the body?
o What steps can people take to ensure they do not become dehydrated?

I have been feeling for the past weeks now the need to constantly urinated and it is accompanied with excessive salivation. I’ve done a urine culture and had no infection found. I have been taking for quite a while now diuretic herbal teas and have been using many diuretic slimming products which I have all stopped now but symptoms persist. Could I be suffering from a potassium defeciency? as I also at times feel pressure in my head, my hands shake and I feel tired.

Why is potassium good for you?

i know you can get it from eating bananas but why is it good for you?

My 18 month old adores v8 and I drink the low sodium variety, and it has 820mg of potassium in each 8 ounce glass. He can drink 8 ounces in a day and I was wondering if that was too much potassium for his body? What if he drinks 2 glasses? There is not much sodium only about 140 mg.

Don’t many purchase water, to get pure water?

I’m looking at the adult & the puppy, here is the info on both so you don’t have to go look them up!

I am feeding ProPlan Selects Turkey & Barley formula right now, which scored a 104 A+ according to other sites, and if this is better, would like to switch to this! I don’t know how to properly score a food, and I cannot find this one on any of the analysis sites.
