Sensitive stomach issues with my 2 year old french bull dog, any advice appreciated!?
Hi, I have a 2 and a half year old french bulldog with an extremely sensitive stomach. To give you all some background, when we first brought her home at 12 weeks she was on Royal Canine for puppies. After just a few weeks she basically stopped eating it and eventually we switched to Merricks Puppy Plate. At first she seemed to love that but also stopped eating it after a few weeks. We slowly changed her food over like we had read so I know that wasn’t the issue. She started getting real bad diarrhea and after some research we decided to try and switch to a raw diet of those frozen raw lamb patties. Once again she ate them at first but after a little while would not eat at all.
Again she was getting sick a lot and after numerous vet visits they recommended we try the Science ID or the Natural Balance sweet potato and venison since they said the raw food was way too rich for her. We tried the Science ID first and once again she seemed to love it for about two weeks and then would not eat unless she was completely starving. So then I tried the Natural Balance sweet potato and venison. Finally it seemed like we had a winner as she was having great stools and seemed to like the food. Low and behold after a nice run she stopped eating the food again. She also started having a ton of mucus in her stool and bad bouts of diarrhea off and on. Again we took her to the vet and had her stool tested with every test coming back fine.
So a month ago I started to mix in canned chicken into her kibble. I made sure to find the lowest sodium canned chicken there was and when i mixed it in she seemed to love it and would finish all of her food. Again we had a nice run where things seemed to go well but then the diarrhea and mucus came back and she has had a few days of vomiting over the past few weeks. Since the vomiting only occurred a few times over the course of a couple weeks and there has been no blood or diarrhea at the same time I have not brought her back to the vet.
When she does eat she seems to try and only eat the chicken and really doesn’t seem to like the Natural Balance sweet potato and venison kibble at all anymore. Is there a different kibble out there i should try or have I totally screwed her up by switching her food so much? I just really want her to be happy and healthy but just dont know what the right thing to do at this point is. Is it bad that I have been using canned chicken? I read that it should be ok and my vet said that it should be great. Someone else told me that chicken may be hard on her stomach and that i should use cooked ground beef instead. It just seems like everyone has a different opinion and I dont know what is the right way to go at this point. I have also thought about trying a different kind of Natural Balance like the duck and potato but am afraid that she will like it for about a month and then stop eating again.
Sorry for the super long-winded question but I just wanted to give as much detail as possible. Thanks in advance for any response!

Our Mini Schnauzer has a sensitive stomach & is a picky eater too. And like you, I’ve tried many different diets on her. But she’s eating great now, and hasn’t had a problem since going on Nutro Natural Choice Chicken & Oatmeal for Sensitive Stomachs. And she really gobbles up her food when I add a little Nature’s Recipe Chicken canned dog food to her kibble. If you do that just be sure to cut back a little on the kibble so your dog doesn’t gain weight!
Good Luck. I know your pain!
If you do not mind cooking for her I found a great way to make homemade meals for my picky pooch. Petmix is a do-it-yourself pet food you can order online from a few different places but http://www.k9criticalcare.com had the best prices I could find.
