Viral rash leading to joint issues?
I totally stumped several doctors, hospital & specialists. I wonder if any of you have ever seen this. Last year I drove home to visit (5 hour drive). Within 24 hours I got a fever of 105. I slept for about 24 hours. I woke up in severe pain in my joints & covered in rash. I was vomiting a lot. My kid’s doc (who was local) said it was probably viral.
I returned home & a week later fever & spots returned. I still had joint pain/swelling & needed my knee drained. I went to an ER. They found my electrolites low & I was dehydrated. They tested me for a lot of things including scarlet fever. Everything came back negative. They said the rash was viral, gave me IV fluids/drained my knee/steroid shots. They sent me home with potassium & said to drink gatorade. The rash eventually went away. Joint pain comes (for days at a time) & goes - esp. in times of stress. I have seen 3 other drs. including rheumotoid doc with NO answers. Before I go see yet another doc - any idea what this is?

I think Earl is not very knowledgable. Just keep going to doctors. Get lab work done. You may have some type of immunological problem. Lab work should also eliminate VD and if you had syphilis, the rash would be on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet. It would not keep re-occurring. Are you allergic to something. I had similar reaction to an antibiotic I was taking. It caused fluid to fill my joint cavities and I got a rash on my scalp. How about Lupus. Good luck.
I am afraid you have a V.D. It occurs with a rash and can be anywhere on the body. Doctors have little to do with it and have done what they can. That is my opinion and maybe wrong as there is not enough info,, the Doctors have it! Did you have a rash that seemed to have no particular place that it would attack. It just did? You can get this on toilets and other things. It is very contagious but not common! Few get it and those that do; unless off a seat that was used immediately after the infected left, has it! It does not last long on surfaces, but it is very infectious! A touch of a finger or hand can give this! It is related to shingles, but seldom shows up as this. Notice you have those symptoms? Joint pain, etc! I think you were in the wrong place at the wrong time! Usually only very promiscuous persons get that to spread. But many can get it of that person just left! A very strange virus! The best you can do is treat it as if it were shingles! This disease is in the adult booths of bookstores, etc! You can be totally innocent and someone got you, innocently or otherwise! It belongs to a form of herpies, but is very hard to detect. So does shingles and the two are related. You had a bad call on where you went… a wrong bathroom you did not like, but had to go. That person must have just left, as I have said, and it was still there.. It may appear on your face or anywhere! That is why it is hard to find out what caused it! It may not appear where it touched you! Go to a church that believes in healing and have faith… With many viruses, that is the only cure, and that is God. The ACLU does not believe that and insists we take that away from our society! God bless. Earl
