What foods, other than bananas contain high levels of potassium? I've been getting leg cramps!?
I’m pregnant and taking my prenatal vitamins but for the last few days I’ve been waking up in the middle of the night with calve-cramps. I like bananas but I can’t eat them all the time as I will get sick of them fast so I need some alternatives.

Orange juice, potatoes, and almonds all contain potassium. If these leg cramps continue, check with your OB/GYN. It could be something besides a potassium deficiency, or you may be losing too much potassium.
All meats, poultry and fish are high in potassium.
Apricots (fresh more so than canned)
Avocado
Banana
Cantaloupe
Honeydew
Kiwi
Lima beans

Oranges and orange juice
Potatoes (can be reduced to moderate by soaking peeled, sliced potatoes overnight before cooking)
Prunes
Spinach
Tomatoes
Vegetable juice
Winter squash
eat baked potato skins high in potassium
Fruits-
apricot, avocado, cantaloupe, melon, mango, oranges, papaya, plums, prunes, raisins, tomato, watermelon.

I know how painful that can be. It was all I could do to keep from screaming when I woke up with calve cramps. My doctor told me that I probably had a calcium deficiency, and they did go away once I’d been taking calcium supplements for awhile. Good luck.
Yogurt! Enjoy!
Diverged,
Hi! I have had low potassium a couple of times. You should really have it checked at the Dr.’s office because if it gets too low it can cause serious problems. Especially if you are pregnant. Some foods that are high in potassium are walnuts, broccoli, baked potato’s and canalope. Good luck and remember, next time you see your Dr., ask him if he will check your blood for your electrolytes. That will give your potassium level results.
The number one food I recommended to my clients when I was in nursing school was potatoe with the skin on. It has a really high level of potassium and it’s easy to include it in your diet in so many different ways.
