What’s the best kind of magnesium supplement to take in pill form?
I have some bizarre health symptoms that have been going on for years now, and some research I’ve done suggests magnesium *could* help:
-constant pressure in my head (some say it is "atypical migraine")
-severe constipation, spastic colon, other digestive issues
-visual problems (double vision, trouble moving eye muscles)
-eye twitching, involuntary muscle "jerks"
And other stuff.
I bought the Nature Made Magnesium supp, 250mg of Magnesium Oxide (that’s the only form of it), it says to take 1 daily.
Is there a better form of Magnesium to take.. and how long should it take for me to notice anything, assuming it will help in the first place?

For your specific case I recommend this one: Natural Calm, it’s a powder for fast absorbtion, very compatible with system and it seems will alleviate all your symptoms (i’ve had a few of those myself, particularly the eye twitching a sure sign of magnesium deficiency).

however it could be many many other things from illness,to low potassium or iron also
and see a doctor incase it is not magnesium problems
The best type of magnesium supplement varies according to symptoms. Where there is migraine I use magnesium aspartate.
Magnesium aspartate and citrate have a higher rate of absorption than some of the others.
However, constant pressure in your head is a somewhat alarming symptom. Is it really constant, all day every day? The visual disturbances are also rather concerning. If the pressure sensation really is constant then I would insist upon you seeing a doctor immediately before prescribing anything.
And to actually answer your question, that dose of Magnesium is actually quite a bit below the RDA (which is the daily minimum for basic health)… 1 pill twice a day is more along the lines of therapeutic benefits. The bottle should recommend if it should be taken with food or not, but most Magnesiums don’t need to be.
Now, there are some groups of thinking that say you should only take one type of Magnesium or another because your body absorbs them "the best", but different people absorb nutrients at different rates, so "the best" for one person might not be for someone else. That being said, the absorption rates between "the best" and "the worst" is only going to be a small percentage anyway as long as you don’t have some major digestive issue. You should be fine with this one.
However, you may want to check with a doctor about your condition, just to make sure it’s nothing more than a deficiency… some of those indications you listed seem a bit more severe than that. Good luck!
the NOW brand, and take some Carbonated Drink for better absorption.
Try KM. (Link Below). It’s great stuff.
There is a very natural magnesium in the pure form homeopathically you could take…..dr Schuessler’s biochemic tissue salts in the Mag Phos…very inexpensive from health shops…there is a booklet you can get too , which explains all.
another alternative is the reishi mushroom….which balances all the systems in the body, by detoxifying and rejuvenating the cells. I say this because , by addressing all the systems, you would have an all over balance happening along with the detox. go to the following web for the product Profile.

and look up the reishi in GL and RG. Also look at the lions mane which is a neurological healer. am sure you would be happy with these options.
