why do all potassium supplements have such a low level of potassium?
Potassium is supposed to be good for hypertension, but the potassium supplements provide only about 3% of the DV.

Because too much potassium is just as bad as too little. Either one can effect your heart rhythm. You never want "guess" about your potassium levels. Yea, adding some potassium after fluid loss is a good idea but daily high doses can be dangerous.

You raise a good question.
The daily requirement is something around 4 grams (going on memory here, but that should be in the ballpark). Supplements give you around 3% and the rest you’re supposed to get from food.
Well, if we were monkeys we wouldn’t have much problem, since bananas are loaded with potassium. But, overall, we don’t get enough potassium to meet the daily requirement. So where does that leave us?
It means that each individual needs to step up to the plate and take charge of his own health, because it isn’t just a potassium issue. The medical community has convinced people that salt causes high blood pressure and that water has no nutritional value other than as a thirst quencher. If we could just correct these two lies, and get people to understand the truth, most health problems would go away.
When you look at all the money that’s being made in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, this isn’t surprising at all.
